This was a weekend where finally, I could relax, sort of anyway. Done with the 0800-1730 hrs grind, done with exams, and done with cases and assignments (at least for the time being). So I went a little crazy. In preparation for the curry party I had planned, hijacking Julie’s place (isn’t it nice to have friends who let you take over their homes to host your parties?) I stopped by 3 Asian grocery stores plus Coop on Friday afternoon, traipsing through everywhere from Ouchy up to Lausanne Gare on foot, to find the ingredients for my Thai veggie green curry. Along the way I swept up everything that looked good and ended up over 100 francs out of pocket, with a trolleyful of impulse buys.
So all of Friday and Saturday, I busied myself with impulse cooking of all my impulse buys. At the end of it, I had omelettes, Chinese vegetables and gyoza to add to the 2 types of curry I’d planned for the party. In the middle of it all, I managed to hop on a train to Montreux, get off at Lutry on the way back and walk back to Lausanne through Lutry and Pully.
In all the insanity of the weekend, it was ironically one of the saner times in my year at IMD. Having time, at least, to literally stop and smell the flowers (or the food). Hopefully there will be more opportunity for such sanity breaks and “me” time in the weeks ahead too!
Yours,
