One of the customers that have extended their Consulting Project with IMD for this second phase of ICP, is a Swiss company operating in the Waste Management industry.
After a detailed analysis of the Waste Industry in Switzerland for ICP-1, the team concluded that there are 3 main factors in order to remain competitive in the Waste Industry: Win volume (in order to win economies of scale), become a brand manage full scope of waste products (as requested by customers) and reach maximum operational efficiency (in order be cost competitive).
The project scope for this second phase has been defined based on the inputs from the industry analysis mentioned above. The team is actually working in two main sub-projects: 1) Redefinition of the Brand; 2) Supply Chain optimization-with special focus on Transport & Logistics.
By tackling these two areas, we are convinced that our customer will be in a position to gain both the needed volume and to be more cost competitive in the market.
The project has been quite challenging so far, since the scope is not always easy to define and the two sub-projects require an important change of the actual culture and processes of the company.
Assessment of all our customer’s locations has already started (specially for the operations part), and we will complete the analysis by benchmarking our customer with strong waste companies outside Switzerland.
It is a very operational project, to be implemented in a very dynamic market environment, where an important consolidation is happening right now.
Best regards from the Waste Industry
