I’ve just had an amazing week-or-so, having been half way across the worldand back!
I was in Singapore towards the end of last week for an interview, for myfirst choice job. I was going tospend the weekend with some family and friends in Delhi after that, and thenfly back to Switzerland for interviews galore this week. But I’d told myself that if, somehow, Imanage to get the job – it was my first choice – I’d spend the whole week withfamily, while working away on the stuff at hand, something I could afford to doas we had no classes or dedicated ICP time this week.
I thought my interview went well.I was sitting on the plane about to fly out of Singapore in 10minutes. My phone rang and it wasa local number that I didn’t recognize.I answered, and that was the job offer! I was super excited on my way into Delhi, and my closefriends and family knew about it before I’d left Singapore!
I reached Delhi and the first thing I did was book a flight to Baroda,my hometown, especially so I could go see my daughter. I had an amazing week – seeing mydaughter and extended family, spending time with friends, eating foods I’dmissed, and so on.
I could also use the week to work away on projects at hand – I’dcancelled all my interviews for the week – so in some ways, it was the best ofboth worlds. But somehow, it feltincomplete. I hadn’t spent enoughtime on work or with family and friends, and I was also itching to get back toLausanne – you heard it right, itching to get back to Lausanne.
That must come from the fact that I’ve been reminding myself everyday howlittle of the programme is left to go.We had sessions this week on departure information and exit inspectionsof our apartments, which make the feeling even more tangible.
Like most of my classmates, I want to make the most of these 7 weeks orso that we have. Spend as muchtime with my friends, have as much fun as possible, create memories to cherish– I already have a treasure chest full of them – for the rest of my life!
And I’m setting off to Lausanne just as I say this; can’t wait!
