I grew up in India, acutely aware of the inequalities around me. My parents, both hardworking doctors, worked tirelessly to empower women in deeply patriarchal rural communities, and I often wondered how I could contribute beyond volunteering. When I stepped into fintech, I thought I was simply adding a digital layer to traditional banking. Little did I know my work would give me something greater: a cause. Financial inclusion became my anchor, echoing the same sense of purpose I had once admired in my parents.
Millions in my country still “save” money under mattresses, but with the rise of affordable smartphones and internet access, I saw how technology could bring underserved communities into the financial system. This journey wasn’t easy. As a woman in a fast-paced tech domain, I often found myself pushing through biases and judgments. Still, every time I saw a new small business owner or rural customer gain access to financial tools, it reaffirmed why I chose this path.
Beyond work, resilience found me in another form, as a single dog mom. Raising my pup, Cooper, alone through the uncertainty of the pandemic was one of the hardest yet most rewarding experiences. Nurturing an endlessly curious and stubborn puppy taught me patience, empathy, and balance. These lessons quietly shaped the kind of leader I aspire to be – someone who can show strength without losing kindness.

Stepping up: the IMD MBA
I realized that to amplify my impact, I needed to broaden my skills and perspective. IMD’s MBA stood out immediately for its intense focus on leadership and personal development, and for the opportunity to learn in a diverse cohort that brings together cultures and ideas from across the world.

The chance to study in the heart of Europe, while engaging with global perspectives on digital transformation and AI through initiatives like the IMD Future Lab, felt like the natural next step. Leaving India, my family, and entrusting Cooper to my parents while I moved to Lausanne was not easy. But growth rarely comes without courage, and looking back, I know it was the right leap.

The journey so far
So far, IMD has been both humbling and transformative. The program has taught me that leadership begins with self-awareness, that diversity of thought sparks true innovation, and that growth only comes when you dare to embrace discomfort. At the same time, I’ve found an unexpected source of strength in my classmates. We are a small, close-knit cohort that supports one another through long weeks, celebrates small wins, and constantly pushes each other to grow.

Gratitude for the Jebsen Scholarship
Pursuing a world-class MBA is a bold investment, and receiving the IMD MBA Jebsen Scholarship was pivotal in my decision to join. More than easing the financial burden, it felt like a vote of confidence in my potential and mission. To the Jebsen sponsors – thank you for your incredible support, which has not only made this dream possible but also inspired me to pay it forward and create a lasting impact.
Looking ahead
With a few months left in the program, I’m excited and optimistic about the road ahead. After graduation, I envision myself at the forefront of fintech innovation, doing my part to help society. IMD is equipping me with the tools, guidance, and confidence to turn this vision into reality.
