Ameny Chaabani reflects on the start of IMD’s MBA Future Lab - a transformative month in Singapore blending immersive learning, cultural discovery, and global connection for the whole class.

How often do you get the chance to travel with 77 brilliant colleagues and the amazing IMD faculty and team to a future-forward country like Singapore, and spend an entire month immersed in digital transformation and the future of AI?

That’s exactly what the IMD Future Lab is all about: immersive learning, real-world exploration, and connecting with the leaders shaping the future of AI and digital innovation.

Diving in with my first presentation for this module

We kicked off the journey with a lively cocktail evening, reconnecting with IMD alumni now building exciting careers across Asia. The conversations were inspiring – from reflections on the MBA journey to life in the region and the vast landscape of professional opportunities here.

A true highlight of the week was meeting Ong Ye Kung, Singapore’s Minister for Health and an IMD MBA alumnus from 1999. He shared a compelling vision for a reimagined healthcare system, one designed not just to treat sickness, but to promote health within communities. He emphasized shifting care to where people live, focusing on KPIs like health span rather than just life span, investing in preventive care, using AI to support (but not replace) human decision-making, and leveraging behavioral nudges to drive better health outcomes. His calm, empathetic, and thoughtful leadership left a lasting impression on all of us.

Our Singapore classroom

Beyond the classroom, this first week has been all about discovery, exploring a city where innovation meets tradition, where cultures interconnect and thrive, and where hospitality is second to none.

From reflections with classmates to getting lost in the vibrant energy of hawker centers, walking along Marina Bay at sunrise, and experiencing the seamless fusion of nature, design, and technology, every moment is a reminder that some of the most valuable learning happens outside the classroom walls.

Exploring Singapore

On Monday, 16 June, we kicked off our AI Bootcamp. I’m so excited to see how the rest of this journey unfolds and to make the most of our remaining time here in Singapore!

AI bootcamp : (l-r) me with Stefan Palios, Bernardo Ferreira, Julian Ritzi, Marcella Severini, Vin Ne Foo

Feeling truly energized by Singapore’s dynamism, the diverse perspectives of my IMD peers, and the chance to learn from world-class educators and leaders. This is just the beginning, and the journey ahead looks incredibly exciting.
