IMD MBA Kriti Bakshi takes us on a journey through a hectic six months on the IMD MBA – and takes inspiration from India’s Independence Day.
In January 2023, we took the plunge into the world of MBA, ready to chase our dreams and conquer the corporate cosmos. In the last six months, we have mastered finance and accounting formulas and aced group projects.
As if juggling case studies and coffee-fueled study sessions weren’t enough, we now enter the job search tango. Crafting the perfect resume, setting up networking calls, nailing interviews, and keeping up with application deadlines is like a full-time job on top of your full-time job, the MBA. Stress? Oh, absolutely.
The best thing about being at IMD, however, is that you are not alone. Yes, your journey is different from everyone else’s, but that doesn’t mean you are alone. The IMD community – students, CDC, and the MBA office – are there to provide support. Indeed, the MBAT, the leadership labs, and the HPL all brought us close together, but this moment is truly remarkable as all students are joining forces to genuinely look out for one another.
Whether it’s providing feedback on resumes or elevator pitches, collaborating on case-cracking or facilitating introductions to past colleagues to expand each other’s networks—there’s a “we’re in this together” vibe that lightens the load.
As we navigated the stress of job searching, we also joined in celebrating India’s Independence Day. The spirit of freedom, determination, and progress aligns beautifully with our journey. Just as India has come a long way, we too are on a transformative path, breaking free from the ordinary and aiming for extraordinary heights.
So, while the MBA job hunt might have its hair-raising moments, the IMD community has got our back. We are not here just to learn frameworks; we are here to thrive, supported by a crew that believes in our potential. And we cannot wait for the days when those job offers start sliding into our inboxes. The high-fives, the cheers, and the endless support will make our victories feel like one big group win!
