Eda reflects on the value of friendship as she celebrates her birthday with MBA classmates in Lausanne.

It is a warm summer evening in Lausanne. I am sitting at a dinner table, looking at my friends and feeling extremely grateful. Nick is explaining to us how he had to re-book his tickets five times to get to Turkey. Anthony is not sure whether he can travel to Germany without quarantine, and James is just being loud as usual. I cannot help but smile as I listen to the conversation.

It is a perfect moment – it is a moment that I want to remember for the rest of my life. It is hard to believe that I met them only seven months ago. The Mighty 90 showed me that friendship isn’t about who you have known the longest, it is about who walked into your life, said ‘I’m here for you’ and proved it.

As my friends sing happy birthday to me, I recognise how extremely privileged I am. Instead of making a wish, I promise myself that I will continue to strive to put in my best in the upcoming months and make the most of my MBA experience!
