For the past few years we have been fortunate enough to travel during the 1st week of December when there are National day holidays in the UAE. As I begin to pen down this blog post, I can’t help but look back on how different December is this year compared to previous years.
- Dec 2014: Scuba Diving in Aqaba, Jordan
- Dec 2015: Pub Crawl in Prague, Czech Republic
- Dec 2016: Relative’s Marriage in India
- Dec 2017: Honeymoon in Maldives
- Dec 2018: Snowstorm in Iceland
- Dec 2019: Rollercoaster in Universal Studios, Singapore
- Dec 2020: Preparing for a year @ IMD!
2020 being the year of ‘COVID’ we have known for a few months now that we wouldn’t be able to travel anywhere. We were mentally preparing for a short break at home, but now we find ourselves on the brink of what will be one of the most exciting year of our lives.
Since I received the acceptance call on 10th November, the eve of our 3rd wedding anniversary, there has been a whirlwind of activities. From sorting visa formalities, resigning from the job, wrapping up our decade-long stay in UAE, to the pre-program assignments. But the one thing I have been pleasantly surprised with is the level of help and support candidates have been offering each other. In particular, we have overcome the challenge of interacting over platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp and Zoom. Thanks to Ravi and Caray for scheduling the interesting zoom calls and the whole group for tirelessly answering the zillion questions I have had.
It’s remarkable to see how a group of individuals come together and start to bond and form more meaningful relationships. It feels as satisfying as seeing blocks fall into place while playing Tetris!
Thank you IMD for the acceptance. I feel I have already learnt a lot from the assessment day and now as a part of the cohort. I am really excited to see how we as a group collaborate and the kind of experiences we will share during the life-transforming year ahead.
