After a year of intensive learning and hands-on experiences, Prateek Prabhune reflects on the key lessons that have reshaped his understanding of the corporate world.

It’s hard to believe, but I’ll be graduating from the IMD MBA program in less than a month. This incredible year has taken me across more than eight countries, allowed me to engage with top executives from around the globe, and provided countless opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. Reflecting on this journey, I’m struck by how enriching it has been, from the initial days in Lausanne to the final stages of my job search, where I hope to share exciting updates soon.

A highlight of the program was collaborating with my classmates – an amazing cohort representing 46 nationalities. Learning to navigate such diverse perspectives, styles, and approaches to problem-solving has been a cornerstone of the experience. Together, we discovered how to find the right balance in an array of working styles, fostering collaboration, and achieving results as a unified team.

The International Consulting Project (ICP) in Mumbai, India gave me a chance to apply some of the skills I’ve learned this year – strategic thinking, leadership, and adaptability – in a real-world setting. Alongside this, future-focused electives like navigating geopolitics and using AI for operational excellence, combined with exploring the philosophical side of leadership and decision-making, have truly rounded out this experience, preparing me for the complexities of today’s business environment.

The program wasn’t just about work, it was about building lasting memories. From skydiving over the Palm Islands in Dubai to exploring cutting-edge tech in Silicon Valley, the journey has been as adventurous as it has been educational. These experiences have cemented lifelong friendships and broadened my perspective on what’s possible.

As I prepare to cross the finish line of this extraordinary year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who’s followed my journey through this blog. It’s been an absolute pleasure sharing these moments as part of the official IMD blog team led by Suzy Laurent. Thank you and stay tuned for more updates post-MBA – this is just the beginning!
