Students are given insight into life beyond the MBA with presentations from companies spanning consultancy, technology, and industrial machinery manufacturing.
As we have passed the halfway mark in the MBA program, our thoughts are starting to turn to what comes after the end of this year.
On 22-23 June, we got a glimpse of a possible future when multiple companies from different industries came to campus to share insights into their culture, values, and – crucially, for jobseekers like us – their hiring processes. It was also great to connect with the many IMD alumni who were there representing their companies.
On the first day, we heard presentations from representatives of management consultancy company AlixPartners and medical equipment manufacturing company Werfen.
“IMD has an extraordinary curriculum and work pace, encouraging MBA candidates to go above and beyond their direct responsibilities,” said Diego Martinez, Global HR Specialist at Werfen, adding that alumni had proven in the past to be an excellent match for the Barcelona-based company’s culture.
For those interested in a career in management consulting, David Risco, Principal (Partner) at BCG lifted the lid on the skills and preparation needed for a successful career in consulting, also for those looking to change careers.
On day two, we heard from Daria Printseva, Talent Acquisition Partner, and Olessia Hageman, Head of Ergo Business Unit, at computer peripherals makers Logitech. It was great to see the passion with which they talked about the company and its spirit of creativity and innovative design. They also answered all our questions about recruitment, visas, and the onboarding process.
We then had an online meet-up with Ravi Kundalia (IMD MBA 2021), Strategic Executive Assistant, and Alda Guza, Global Talent Acquisition Manager, from industrial machinery manufacturer HBK, who shared insights on the work culture at HBK.
The day ended with a session with business consulting and services firm ZS led by Graham Egan, Strategy Insights & Planning Manager and IMD alumnus, Marilyn Heymann, Strategy Insights and Planning Consultant, and Malik Kaman, Principal (Partner).
The session with ZS was unique because we got a chance to explore the intricacies of the healthcare landscape which allowed us to see the challenges and opportunities that exist within this dynamic industry.
Overall, the experience of engaging with the companies, understanding their culture, and connecting with IMD alumni was truly enriching, and these two days have left us excited about the potential career opportunities that lie ahead.
