Following the recent post, IMD MBA Clubs – Part I, where our Sustainability, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Luxury Goods, and Women in Business career clubs presented themselves, we introduce the next four clubs, their activities, and their plans for the future.
The Manufacturing and Industry Club
The Manufacturing and Industry Club is a newly funded organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of potential careers within the manufacturing industry landscape for MBA students.
The club’s primary goal is to unite students interested in these fields and to highlight the numerous career opportunities available in manufacturing. Our members boast diverse backgrounds spanning various industries and functions worldwide. We regularly gather to network and exchange professional insights among our members and other interested students. Moreover, we aim to invite external guests throughout the year to enrich our understanding of potential career opportunities and stay updated on the latest industry trends.
Club lead: Georg Hammer and Mohammed-Charif Daoudi
The Consulting Club
Over the course of the year, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the consulting industry, develop analytical and problem-solving skills, practice cases, and build a strong network with like-minded individuals. We are planning a variety of events for the year, including case study challenges, workshops on problem-solving techniques, lectures from industry professionals, networking events, and boot camps. We also aim to share unique perspectives and ideas from experienced consultants and alumni. Finally, we plan to organize mentorship programs with alumni and experienced professionals to learn from their experiences.
One of the club’s leaders, Rodrigo, says, “I believe that this experience will provide me with real-world exposure to business scenarios and equip me with the necessary tools to tackle them.”
Club lead: Rodrigo Lima and Mohamad Hussain
The Finance Club
The 2024 IMD Finance Club came together as a merger between the venture capital, private equity, impact investment, and general finance clubs, representing the diverse interests of our members. We plan to organize events with individual external speakers, alumni, and current students in the format of Q&As, roundtable discussions, and a bi-weekly student-led expert series. Already, we have hosted Vanina Farber, Dean of the IMD EMBA Program and Professor of Social Innovation, for a discussion on jobs in impact investing, social innovation, sustainable finance, and ESG, and a comprehensive brief on fintech with current student, Raza Naqvi. We look forward to hosting many more events in the months to come.
Club lead: Alison Brett, Nicholas Saari, Nadia Osman, and Isabella Wang
The Real Estate Club
The Real Estate (RE) Club provides members with a better understanding of the RE market by exploring its potential as an investment for both professional and personal financial objectives, learning to analyze RE companies, and understanding the distinctions among various property types. This will help members navigate job opportunities during and after their MBA studies, empowering them with valuable career insights and practical skills tailored to the RE industry.
To enrich our members’ learning experience, we invite industry professionals and guest speakers to discuss career opportunities, sector trends, and future projections. We also organize and participate in networking events with key players in the Swiss RE sector. Our activities are enhanced through collaborations with other clubs, such as the Finance Club and the Sustainability Club, ensuring a comprehensive educational and professional experience.
